My teaching experience in 1st class
Procedures of teaching
Actually, it was the first time for me to teach something so I felt so nervous. Because of that, I forgot to check students’ attendance in the beginning of class. I introduced saving bank interest, tax, fine and bonus to students at first. I used some illustration to make students understand each definition easily.

However, some of my explanation were difficult for them so my teacher helped me explaining it to students in Indonesian.
After I finish introducing, I gave students some exercises to check their understanding. I told them the importance of writing equations and made them write equations correctly. Students solved it in group but some of them actually struggled to solve the exercises. Finally, I gave them a summary of what they studied in the today’s class.
Overall, I almost completely succeeded to follow my teaching plan but I failed to do time management and missed some part of my teaching plan.
Time management and organizing activities
As I said in the former paragraph, I failed to do time management. The introduction part took longer time than I had imagined and students didn’t have time to do additional problems in the class. I gave them it as a homework but in the result, this worked better. In next class I collected and checked this homework and it helped me to check each students understand correctly the topic they studied. However, it’s true that I failed to do time management so I needed to think more of how long each part take for the next class.
About exercises, I felt my exercises are correct level for students. I taught Mathematics in 7A class, which is the highest level class of 7th grade. 7A students were so smart and they understood quickly new things. My exercises were slightly difficult because students needed to do a complicated calculation. They had some difficulties at first, however, they solved it finally. I think my exercises helped them to step up.
Classroom management
In classroom management for the 1st class, I can’t say that I succeeded it. Actually, I felt students felt some bored in my 1st class. I needed to explain each definition of saving interest, tax, fine and bonus so I gave them a lot of explanation. It leaded to make students be audiences. I understand they felt bored because If I were a student of my class, I also felt bored. I think I should have done some game in the class to make students enjoy studying Mathematics.
Problem which I found in class and how to solve it
I found 2 problems in this class.
First problem is about the level of students. All students have high skill of Mathematics, however, some students are struggling with understanding the sentences of exercises in English. They didn’t understand what they should answer so they didn’t answer correctly to the exercises. I cannot solve this problem fundamentally because I cannot speak Indonesian. However, there are some few things I can do, for example, to explain the meaning of some important English words like saving interest or tax to students.
Second problem is my teaching way. As I said, my 1st class was really boring to students. I should have played some game related to class to make class more fun. I definitely need to solve this problem because Students can dislike Mathematics with boring Mathematics class.
